Paula Bergan

I was born and raised at Badger, SD where my parents raised hogs and I loved horses. I went to grade school in a two room schoolhouse in Badger and graduated from Arlington High School. I started working as a waitress when I was 14. After high school I worked for 26 years as the plant manager for a sewing factory in Arlington. We manufactured women's lingerie, then to men's hunting clothes and accessories, and at the end when the plant went overseas we were manufacturing home furnishings.  I participated in trade shows held all over the US both as a participant and as an instructor. I then worked as a corporate sales coordinator for two years in Watertown before being employed in the office at J & R Feeds in November of 2006. Currently and for the last 10 years I have owned and operated a custom embroidery and machine quilting business at my home in my spare time.

I have been the Badger Lutheran Church president, deacon, trustee and secretary, a Boy Scout leader, Sunday and Bible School teacher, co-chair to the Badger Centennial committee and a 37 year member of the Badger Legion Auxiliary. I was the featured quilter for the Watertown quilt show 8 years ago and have taught many quilting and needlework classes over the years. I am a licensed HAM radio operator.

My husband Joel who was raised on a dairy farm north of Lake Preston and I live on a South Dakota century family farm just south of Badger and we raise paint horses. Between us we have five grown children. In my quiet time, I love to ride horse, sew and quilt. Life is good!
